Inspired by inspired the hexagonal structure of the individual bricks or logs, Hexalogs combines beauty and eye-catching quality with the natural stability of hexagonal tessellations.
The outer side length of one Hexalog is 7 inches, making the height about 12.124 inches and the widest portion 14 inches. Within the inner portion of the brick is a T-shaped protrusion which will allow for the propagation brick to be attached to the Hexalog while remaining easily removable.
The T-shaped cutout in this design will align with the solid T-shape protrusion on the main Hexalog cubby. This will allow for the propagation brick to connect to the Hexalog cubby yet be easily removed, if necessary. This propagation brick would be made entirely of the oyster cement, thereby ensuring the conditions for optimal growth. It will stick out two inches from where the Hexalog cubby ends, which is at 14 inches, making the structure have a total depth of 16 inches.
We attempted to create a design that could also be modified with oyster or wire mesh to create oyster baskets - testing a new method in oyster restoration viability.
Alternative Stacking creates hidden spaces and increases surface area. while offering customization options.
